Ringo’s Last Day

By Kira DeDecker Photography | November 7, 2018

Contributed by: Kira DeDecker Photography

Lately I’ve been shooting a lot of hospice care sessions. Does it ever depress me photographing these clients? No, I’m actually grateful.

Grateful that I get to spend what precious time these canines have left.

Grateful that I get to give a little back.

Grateful that I was chosen to document their bond.

Grateful that they are willing to be vulnerable in hard time.

I was contacted by Ringo’s mom late Thursday night, asking me if I could come and photograph her dog, Ringo the next day because his health took a turn for the worst and he only had a few days left.

Ringo was truly an amazing dog and compagion. A beautiful German Shepard/Aussie Mix, this doggo spent all nine of his years very much loved and adored. And I am absolutely grateful that I got to capture a bit of his spirit while he was still with us.
