Basil was always my little co-pilot when I would sew. One spring, I won a lottery to take a class with my favorite fabric designer, Kaffe Fassett.
I was agonizing over picking fabric for this class and I was stressed out all night trying to come up with something “impressive.” All I could decide on is purples and blues, but I just couldn’t come up with a color to pop off of them.
Basil had been up with me, and it was about 10pm the night before my class, and I was stressed to tears. He walked over with his little rawhide and set it on my fabrics. The more I looked at it, I actually really liked that color to offset the entire thing, so I picked a couple of fabrics with that [golden chicken flavored rawhide] color and ended up having the favorite color combination in the class.
I was so proud of my little guy, he had an eye for color!
