Thank you so much to Hannah, for being our very first participant of Share Your Story! What a wonderful story about Brewtus 🙂
By, Hannah Dietrich
Brewtus came into our lives in June 2008 and his physical body left us on Thanksgiving 2015. We adopted him sight unseen, only knowing that he was about 5 years old and a family surrender. I will never forget when I first saw him; he was nothing I expected, and everything I never knew I needed.
He brought so much joy and love to our lives; his passing was—and still is—heartbreaking. He loved to take naps on the couch, have his butt scratched, convince guests to feed him scraps from the table, ride in the car, go to work with his dad, drink the last sips of someone's beer, and spend time with our families. He was protective of his siblings, left extra food in his dish for his doggie-sibling, Daisy, and indiscriminately gave slobbery kisses to all. He disliked going to the bathroom in the rain, all things related to care and maintenance (nails trimmed, bathing, ears cleaned), and being dressed up for holidays.
Our life with him was beautiful and complete. We are so thankful for the time we had with him. His passing leaves a large void in our hearts, and while everything will feel different without him, our lives were so much better because of him. Rest peacefully, my Bubba, I love you so much.
