The saying goes that every dog has its day, and this unseasonably beautiful day in April was 12 year old Guinniss’.
When Guinniss’ back end started to weaken, Megan and I were motivated to start documenting his bucket list that she and Kris had been compiling for some time.
Not surprising at all, but a lot of Guinniss’ favorite things are food! So, we headed to a beautiful park with a puppy picnic in hand!
Mom and dad began by serving Guinniss a fine Alberta steak, coated in cat food. I think that Guinniss’ eyes almost popped out of his head! To wash it all down, just a sip of his favorite beer! I know! I bet you thought it would be a different brand 😉
After dinner, some cuddles with mom and dad, and some really happy smiles all around!
We ended the evening by heading to a nearby ice cream shop. Megan used to visit this shop as a little girl, and I would suspect not much has changed since then! Inside we found dozens of trinkets from the 80’s – muppet babies, smurfs, you get the idea.
Guinniss waited patiently for mom to get the ice cream. Once it arrived, he wasted no time devouring the whole thing!
On the ride home I watched Guinniss as his eyes began to droop and he slowly fell asleep with an extremely satisfied look on his face. What a fun night, with a fun guy. It was a night that his family will always cherish, and a night that they can revisit anytime through photographs for the rest of their lives.
